If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you may have seen me mention that Sarah J. Maas is one of my favorite authors. She’s actually the author I picked for the “Read your favorite author’s favorite book” challenge from BookRiot’s Read Harder challenge last year. I think you can definitely see the influence from The Thief in the Throne Of Glass series, especially the first book.
Maas starting writing this series when she was 16, but it wasn’t published until she was 26. You can see the development of her writing and the growth of her confidence in her craft through this series. Every book is great, but each book manages to surpass the last.
I just love this series. I love everything about it. It made me laugh and cry and angrily attempt to yell at characters through the pages. The friendships between the characters, the love interest supporting the girlboss moment, and the twists and turns. Oh my, the twists and turns! Just as you think you know where the story is going, it surprises you.
Although, I still refuse to do a tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn. No amount of other readers can convince me otherwise.
This series has gotten immensely popular and has surged back up the most read books charts. But if you are holding out and you like young adult fantasy, then give in to peer pressure and read this series. You won’t regret it.
