The Color Of Magic: A Positive Perspective

Book Riot Read Harder Challenge #1: Read a cozy fantasy book

When I think of cozy fantasy, I think of fantasy that is just plain fun. The kind of fantasy that you can read aloud without having to hide your grandmas. Where you can grab a blanket and a cup of cocoa and just relax with a great story. Discworld definitely fits the bill. An absolutely hilarious series that feels like a big comfy sweater that probably has a pun on the front.

I have yet to read a Discworld novel I don’t like. And if you enjoy fun things, then you will probably have the same experience. It’s hard not to love a world sitting on the back of four elephants who are standing on the shell of a turtle as it slowly swims across space. Because the world is a literal disc, you can also fall off of it. And because people (non-human people as well) are smart, many live near the rim of the world.

Our main characters are a wizard that knows only one spell, a tourist who just wants to witness a real bar fight, and a piece of luggage that will one hundred percent eat your face off if you irritate it.

When a series has 41 books, you may expect it to become dull. This is definitely not the case with Discworld. Each and every book is just as fun if not more fun than the last. If you haven’t read this book that started it all or any of the Discworld novels, definitely check it out.
