The Assassin’s Curse

Sometimes you need a cuddly romance when the characters instantly fall in love and profess it constantly throughout the entire book. And sometimes you need a book where both characters contemplate killing each other on a regular basis and argue like an old married couple while fighting their enemies.

The banter is probably the best part of this book. It is full of humor without just being mean, which is how you can tell they actually like each other. The character development of the assassin and the pirate he’s supposed to be killing is well done. You can tell when the characters realize they’ve gone past arguing into flirting which is so fun to watch.

Our handsome and brooding assassin is unable to kill the strong female pirate after she saves his life. The two are now bound together until they can break the curse of not being able to kill her and having to protect her. The bulk of the novel is the journey to break the curse. They encounter all sorts of trials along the way while they are forced to bond.

And that’s not even mentioning the ending which will make you instantly want to read the rest of the series to find out what happens next.
