What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

Funny story about my name.

My mother and father did not meet until they were in their thirties. At that point, my mom’s family thought that she would never get married or have children. So my aunt asked my mom if she could have the baby name my mom had been saving.

My mom said sure, as long as my aunt was aware that when my mom eventually found the one and settled down, she was still going to use the baby name.

And that’s how I have a cousin with the same first and middle name as me.

The story behind the name is that my grandmother’s nickname was Sam, which is not even remotely her name, but people called her that after the TV show Bewitched. Apparently my grandmother just had a way of making things happen.

Her middle name was Jean. It is a middle name that my mom and I both share with her. So my name is a connection to this amazing woman, capable of amazing things who died before I was even a thought.

If I ever have a daughter, she will have the middle name Jean too in memory of the strong and clever women who have come before her.
